17 June 2008 Congratulations to Dr. Gregory Hiemenz of Techno-Sciences, Inc., who was awarded the prestigious Hal Andrews Young Engineer Scientist Award by the National Capital Section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Greg currently serves as Principal Investigator of all TSI projects focused on exploiting magnetorheological (MR) fluid technology to reduce shock and vibration loads to occupants. Dr. Hiemenz and his team are developing retro-fit capable MR shock systems for the crew seats of the Navy's SH-60 Seahawk helicopter, the Marine Corp's Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle, The Special Operations Command's MK V fast attack boat, and for electronics systems used by NASA for space shuttle launch event data acquisition. The AIAA selected Greg in 2008 for his exceptional contributions to management of research and development programs and technical leadership in the theory and practice of adaptive magnetorheological energy absorbers applied to crashworthy seat systems. |
