Jan 27, 2009 TSI wins Phase I Air Force SBIR Contract for Engine Health Monitoring TSI was selected for a Phase I Air Force SBIR contract to develop a health management system for engine accessories using a very high frequency monitoring system. Health monitoring and management of machinery components are of significant concerns as systems age. An ability to track the operational health of such systems would allow for a condition based approach to health monitoring rather than the conventional fixed maintenance schedule. The TSI team, lead by Principle Investigator, Dr. Ashish Purekar, will integrate in-situ low-profile sensor elements, a wireless data acquisition, and advanced signal processing routines. Laboratory testing will be used to demonstrate data acquisition from the in-situ elements on a bench-top system. Advanced signal processing techniques will be used to analyze the experimental data and demonstrate health monitoring capabilities. The project will demonstrate hardware/software components which will be used for machinery health management
