3 February 2009 TSi wins Phase I SBIR contract from Air Force to Develop Advanced Flight Control Technology for Munitions Techno-Sciences, Inc., in collaboration with the University of Maryland, received an a Phase I SBIR award from the United States Air Force today to develop a flight control technology featuring pneumatic artificial muscle actuation. Building upon its extensive experience and proprietary technologies for flight control, TSi will design and prototype a pneumatic flight control system for micro munitions. The Phase I system will be evaluated under simulated flight conditions and refined for vehicle integration and wind tunnel testing in Phase II. The lightweight, compact, and adaptive TSi control system will enable greater munition performance over conventional actuators, thereby improving the overall utility of the weapon system. This project will be led by Dr. Curt Kothera, Program Manager of Advanced Flight Control Technology, at Techno-Sciences, Inc. |
