TSi was awarded a contract by the Instituto Nacional de Technica Aeroespacial (INTA) in May 1992 for the installation of a Local User Terminal and a Mission Control Center at the Maspalomas Tracking Station on Grand Canary Island.

The system was installed in August 1992 and the commissioning reports were submitted to the COSPAS-SARSAT Joint Committee in August. The system was commissioned at the December 1993 meeting.

INTA purchased a GEOSAR Local User Terminal in November 1992 and accepted the system in January 1993.

The Spanish COSPAS-SARSAT system was acquired by INTA under the leadership of Julio Melián.
