Maritime Vessel Information System

TSi's Vessel Information System (VIS) is a monitoring and data collection system for maritime applications. The VIS can be tailored to meet customer needs.

At the heart of the VIS is a Bridge Data Manager (BDM) responsible for collection of imagery and onboard data. The BDM is capable of collecting imagery and data from installed cameras and onboard instrumentation and storing it. Several options for the cameras including night vision and specific instrumentation for customer needs are available. The data stored in the BDM can be transmitted, via satellite, providing valuable information about the voyage for management purposes.

In addition, the VIS can be coupled with alarms allowing the ship's Captain to declare emergencies to alert the crew or ship owner. The VIS can also come with a global reporting service subscription, which enables the ship owner to monitor their entire fleet worldwide.

For component details please refer to the chart below:

Bridge Data Manager & Surveillance Cameras

The BDM is the heart of our VIS. It handles the collection of all onboard data and can, through the GCM (see below), relay a subset of this data to the ship owner. The data collected includes all position information, images from the perimeter cameras. Any engine related alarms and images from the fire surveillance cameras are collected for forwarding purposes.

Captain's Alarm Transmitter

Using a fixed or portable miniature transmitter, this unit can remotely activate an alarm to alert either the ships crew or the ship owner of a situation that the captain has deemed an emergency. The alarm transmitter works in conjunction with the Ship Digital Signature Unit to send the emergency to our landline monitoring station.

Global Communications Module (GCM)

This is a satellite based, global communications terminal that is installed onboard the ship and is independent of any communications terminal used by the ship and its crew. This module is used to transmit all collected information on the ship to our landline monitoring station.

Ship Digital Signature Unit

Provides unambiguous identification and location of the ship in global and local modes. In global mode the DSU can be queried from any location on earth, and it will return the ship's unique identification signature and its location, speed, and heading. In local mode the DSU provides an encoded (undetectable) transmission of the ship's identification signature and location.

Global Reporting Service

Provides scheduled and on-demand transmissions, via satellite, of selected voyage data to the Trident Global Command Center.

Our systems have been operating since Dec. 2001 on Liberty Maritime ships worldwide. We provide voyage information to regarding their their various ships directly to their headquarters.
