Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA)

TSi's SCADA systems collect, analyze, and archive real-time data from factory equipment providing secure, web-based, real-time access to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as machine utilization, production efficiencies and yields, inventory levels, order status, quality and traceability data, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Please review our SCADA Brochure for complete information regarding our SCADA, Predictive Maintenance, and Operations Scheduling capabilities.

The following success story relating to TSi's work for the U.S. Mint illustrates such capabilities:

In 1999, TSi designed and delivered a wireless SCADA system to monitor machine health and production information for the US Mint production coining facilities in Philadelphia and Denver via secure, wireless LAN access to equipment. The system included the addition of sensors, PLC's, wireless held operator interface devices, and servers. The SCADA system was developed around the following desired capabilities:

  1. real-time monitoring of production and machine health,

  2. real-time collection and storage of all plant data,
  3. historical data analysis including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and production,

  4. and accurate production planning based on recorded past machine OEE calculations.

The SCADA system consolidated and leveraged maintenance and operations data to increase the effectiveness of the maintenance and production management systems already in place at the Mint.  The interface of the existing maintenance and production management systems with the SCADA system was accomplished at the database level.  Thus users of the SCADA system have transparent access to all Mint needed systems through a simple, secure, web-based interface on the Mint's intranet.
