Lanham, Maryland, U.S.A. – April 8th, 2021 – TSi announced today that it has successfully completed the Cospas-Sarsat commissioning of a newly deployed MEOLUT for the country of China. The commissioning process and final approval by Cospas-Sarsat indicates the solution meets or exceeds all Cospas-Sarsat standards, and that China is able to share MEOLUT data with other Cospas-Sarsat member nations in the process of life saving search and rescue operations.
According to Wan Qian, CTTICs Director of Transport Information & Telecommunication Emergency Support Centre, “China is always looking to take advantage of the latest in SAR technological innovation and we trust TSi’s expertise and leadership in MEOSAR technology to stay at the forefront of this life-saving technology. The MEOSAR ground segment project schedule was met at every milestone and the performance of TSi has been excellent. We are looking forward to our continued partnership with TSi as the international COSPAS-SARSAT program continues to develop around GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and BeiDou satellites for worldwide distress alert detection.”
The TSi MEOLUT is a satellite tracking station for the acquisition of 406 MHz emergency beacon data relayed by medium Earth orbit (MEO) satellites using Cospas-Sarsat MEOSAR technology. Designed and built to support the life-saving mission of the global Cospas-Sarsat network, TSi’s highly reliable MEOLUT has been deployed in the world’s major SAR regions. Using state-of-the-art receiver technology, the MEOLUT is capable to process both First Generation Beacon (FGB) and Second-Generation Beacon (SGB) signals, which highly increase the detection and GPS independent location performance of 406 MHz beacons.
